The locals vowed to the Mother of God that they will make a pilgrimage every year on Easter Monday, as a sign of gratitude that the city was spared infectious diseases and plague epidemic.

Church of Madonna Traverse is located at the outskirts of the town and is about 10-minute walk from the parish church of St. Blaise in Vodnjan.
